I am a multidisciplinary artist and Master's graduate from the University of Pretoria, as well as a Wits Fine Art graduate. As the founder of NYON Magazine, I have dedicated myself to the research of the self-representation of Black women, incorporating themes of self-care and healing into my work. My work aims to create a dialogue around identity and empowerment, celebrating the beauty and resilience of Black womanhood.

About
Nandipha Yanta, born in 1999 in Johannesburg, South Africa, is a painter and a Wits Fine Art graduate as well as a Visual Studies Master's graduate at the University of Pretoria. Her body of work is situated around the self-representation and visibility of black women with the incorporation of self-care and healing. The body of work is also centred around the upending of Western standards of beauty. Her primary medium is painting. She has exhibited her work at the GAEA Fashion Show, which is an organisation that gives South African artists, fashion designers and musicians a platform to establish their brands. She has exhibited at the Joburg Fringe, Decorex, and the Point of Order. One of Nandipha's significant achievements was being selected as the Design Indaba Emerging Creative in 2022. Yanta is also a mentor and adjudicator for Curro Create, where she guides school learners on ways in which they could improve their artworks.
